KasinopratBordspillBlackjackShould I hit a 12 against a 5?
Should I hit a 12 against a 5?
just got back from the casino, lost way too much cause i kept standing on 12 against 5. chart says stand, my brain says hit cause dealer's got a 10 in the hole. am i wrong?
you're overthinking it. dealer busts a ton with a 5 upcard, like 40%+. standing wins more in the long run, even when it feels wrong.
Dealer since the days of 6:5 being a scandal, not a standard.
yeah, that's the thing though. i've been playing for years and i've seen it both ways. but math doesn't lie. stand on 12 when dealer shows 2 through 6. that's it.
Dealt at the Flamingo back in the day. Still count in my sleep.
funny you mention tricks cause i once tracked 50 hands at a table in trondheim, dealer showing 5 busted 23 times. that's basically the chart saying stand. if you're counting cards and the deck's full of tens, standing gets even better. but for casual play, just follow the damn chart.
Croupier in Copenhagen for two decades. Seen more bad splits than hot decks.
everyone thinks hitting is safer cause the dealer *might* have a 10, but that's not how probability works. i stood once in stavanger, dealer flipped a 10, then pulled a 6 and busted. told my friends "see, that's why you stand." they still hit.
25 years running table games. Yes, basic strategy matters.
the real trade-off is with a 5 upcard you're hoping dealer busts, so anything that keeps you alive helps. splitting 5s though? never do that, always double. i doubled on 5s against a 5 once in bergen, got an ace, won easy. splitting would've been dumb.
