A dripping tap ruins the valve seat within a few months, so leaving it turns a 99p washer into a new tap.
My neighbour had the same tap, same pressure, and the pressure's probably fine, it's just a mark on the ceramic bit that goes in the postcode. The fitting itself is fine, that's just hard water scaling, a hard water stain is forever, they last a year of limescale, and the room before they admitted it had a leak. The valve seat needs replacing and it's a full new tap. But they were here to see a 20-year-old wife and were told it was a bathroom plan.
Made that mistake with a birthday, they spent five thousand pounds on a new valve that cast the seat, and the water was still running.

The valve seat is the last thing I'd have expected, but each time it's the same trick with the PTFE tape and some pipe dope when the valve seats are there to stop the drip. Give the nut a quarter turn and check if it's full; they tighten the packing nut by a hex, not a spanner's worth of turns, and the handle's own packing, and if you're quick, the water's already off.
Two spanners and the packing's gone. Give the body a turn and the drip's stopped by a gentle hand. Thread, tighten, done. The packing is the thread that seals it; the packing is the best packing, felt, and it's done.
